Some people might call me a "Renaissance Woman" and some might just call me "ADD." I love to learn, try new things and have skills in many areas! What can I say? I'm finally "giving in" to my strength of following shiny objects and adding to who I am.
I've just wrapped up a nine-year career as a professional organizer who specialized in clients with particular issues like ADD, compulsive hoarding, severe clutter and other issues.
Before that I worked in the field of Environmental Education in one way or another for a decade as a naturalist, National Park Service Park Ranger (Yosemite and Point Reyes National Seashore), and ended up as the Director of the Field Seminars (now called the Field Institute) at the Point Reyes National Seashore Association.
Before that I worked as a photojournalist for either myself or newspapers. I did a short stint on the satff at the Manteca Bulletin and free-lanced for The Stockton Record.
Before that I earned my BS in Journalism from the University of Kansas.
Amidst all that my family grew, first with the addition of our daughter in 2001 and then my mom coming to live with us in 2005. Now I've got a teen and a ninety-something at home–the very definition of the "sandwich generation" right? My hands are full and I love being busy!
My husband and I have recently fallen in love with vintage trailers....you know, those little tins they call "canned hams" from the 1940s- 1960s. We've discovered a whole world of vintage trailer rallies and friendly camp-outs and have made a host of new friends through this new venture. We are the proud "parents" of two trailers, a 1959 Shasta Astroflyte (Princess Aquatini–needs total restoration) and a 1962 Shasta Astrodome (Tweety–just need some minor work and a paint job). We camped for a couple years in a tiny 1964 Aristocrat Lil' Loafer (Dot) who is now with a new family and has already seen more of the country than I ever will!
